Game Recap: Bark in the Park & Camp Day

Hey, ‘Cats fans! We’ve officially wrapped up our first homestand of July after the ‘Cats finished a two-game series against the Connecticut Tigers. On July 7th, we spent a rainy night here at “The Joe” for Bark in the Park night sponsored by Nemith Motors and 4 Paws Animal Hospital. It was great to see so many fans, local animal hospitals and organizations out at the ballpark with their furry friends. We had some fun demonstrations down on the field with the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and the Takes 2 to Q agility course, and a pre-game interview with our media broadcaster Sam Sigal and Ed Randall with the Strike out Prostate Cancer foundation.

The rain unfortunately brought us to an early call of the game after 4 1/2 innings with a 10-2 victory for the ValleyCats. We’ll be hosting a second Bark in the Park night on Thursday, July 17th where fans with tickets to the July 7th game can redeem their ticket and attend this game with their dogs at “The Joe.” July 17th is also Arts in the Ballpark Night with Proctor’s where we will be celebrating the rich arts culture of the Capital Region, so you won’t want to miss out!

On July 8th, we had our first Camp Day of the season here at “The Joe” for the ‘Cats last game against the Tigers. We had a great group of kids and counselors who attended and participated in our on-the-field promotions, caught some t-shirts during out Upstate Ford t-shirt toss and cheered on the ValleyCats! The ‘Cats dropped the last game of the series 18-4, but the crowd enjoyed the day and sunny weather.DSC_0081 DSC_0086 DSC_0100 DSC_0101 DSC_0108 DSC_0126 DSC_0141

The ValleyCats are now off on the road for six days, with a series against the Jameston Jammers followed by the Williamsport Crosscutters. While the ‘Cats are away, we’ll be hosting the 5th Annual Capital Region Craft Brewers Festival at the stadium on July 12th from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be dozens of breweries in attendance for beer tastings and a day filled with live music and fun! Don’t forget, The ValleyCats return to “The Joe” on July 16th for Veterans Night/Military Appreciation Night presented by CSEA. We hope to see you soon, ‘Cats fans!
