Game Recap: Red, White and Blue Glow in the Park Night
Last night we had another sold out crowd here at “The Joe” for the continuation of our Independence Weekend Festivities! 5,708 fans joined us for GE Kids in Free and Red, White and Blue Glow in the Park Night at the stadium. It was another gorgeous night to watch a ball game, and especially a ‘Cats 9-4 victory over the Lowell Spinners! We honored the Hoosic Valley baseball team during our pregame ceremonies with an honorary first pitch to congratulate the team on their New York State Class C Championship and heard a wonderful national anthem from our singer Leslie Maiello. SouthPaw also had a special guest on the field last night, MiniPaw!
Our staff handed out glow sticks as fans entered into the park, and once the final inning wrapped up we turned the lights down for our tennis ball launch and fireworks show as fans waved glow sticks in the air! It was an awesome sight to see and we were happy that our enthusiastic fans helped us glow in the dark at the park! The crowd watched another exciting night of baseball with J.D. Davis hitting his third home run of the season in the first inning, and the ValleyCats offense leading the team to a 9-4 victory over the Lowell Spinners. Ryan Bottger hit his first home run as a professional, and Blaine Sims had his knuckleball dancing as he allowed just one run in five innings to pick up his first win of the season. Tonight, the ValleyCats will go for the series sweep at 5 p.m. on Sunday Funday and Faith, Family and Fellowship Night! Thank you to Greg Fisher for the player and fireworks photos! Today is our second Sunday Funday of the season with St. Peter’s Health Partners! ValleyCats teammates Adam Nelubowich and Joe Musgrove will be reading at our Summer Readers event at 3:30 p.m. which will be followed with a pregame catch on the field for families at 4 p.m. We’ll be giving away 2014 ValleyCats posters at the front gate and our specialty patriotic jersey auction will take place after the postgame kids run the bases! We hope to see our fans out for today’s game!
