Mound Visit
The Community Grounds Crew, presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York, visited McQuade Park in the Village of Coxsackie on Monday to help re-build the pitchers mound. The height was raised to spec and the table was re-built with a new foundation of clay bricks. A brand new four-sided rubber was installed to replace the old step down and new infield mix was used to grade out the rest of the mound.
Here are some before & after photos:
As the weather gets colder, it’s important to keep your mound and plate areas covered with tarps. This will help keep the moisture in and prevent the clay surfaces from cracking.
The Community Grounds Crew looks forward to another great season in 2013!

On a side note, one of our great helpers around the office, Billy from the Rensselaer County ARC, spent his last day with us on Tuesday. GM Rick Murphy took some time to play him in his favorite game, checkers.
Billy was victorious and therefore took home the “b-e-l-t” as he calls it. Thanks again for all of the help Billy!

Well done. The community involvement of the ValleyCats is always commendable on so many levels.
