On Friday, August 24, the ValleyCats faithful welcomed the 2012 Stedler Division Champions onto the field for the very first time at “The Joe.”
Rich and Matt Ruotolo helped with the celebration as they created a division championship pennant on the sidewalk outside the main gate. Make sure to take a look as their artwork will be on display throughout the weekend.
Friday night was also our annual Home Improvement Night with Trustco Bank on hand as the game sponsor. Trusty joined SouthPaw on the field for a ceremonial first pitch. Our friends at Country True Value also participated in the concourse home show with one lucky fan winning a special certificate prior to the game.
One of the most unique first pitches in recent memory was actually a “ceremonial first roll.” Jen Adams, from WAKA Kickball, fired one in with SouthPaw trying to show of his boot. Keep your day job, big guy! For more information on their upcoming season, visit their website at: http://www.kickball.com/season/nycapitalspring2012
We would also like to extend a special thanks to the United States Navy for presenting the colors last night! Thank you for your service and for joining us at the ballpark!
The ‘Cats kept the celebration going on the field as Jarrod McKinney blasted two home runs. Preston Tucker and Jesse Wierzbicki added two hits apiece to help fuel a 7-4 victory.
The team is home again on Saturday for NY 529’s Summer Reader Night with tickets still available. The homestand concludes on Sunday Funday with the Diamond Dig presented by Jewelry by Don Cook. Ladies, join us at the ballpark for your chance to dig up a pair of diamond earrings following the game!
