Capital Region Baseball Heritage Night at “The Joe”

The first bobblehead of the Heritage Series presented by Berkshire Bank featured Derek Jeter in an Albany-Colonie Yankees’ uniform. When the line began forming at 1:00 PM, it became evident that this highly-anticipated giveaway would be the most popular in ValleyCats history.
Some fans waited up to five hours and braved the rain for their chance to claim a bobble. Sammy Baseball and several of the Mayors attempted to entertain the lines out front with juggling and giveaways. Thank you to all who waited for your patience as the response to this giveaway was enormous. For those fans who did not receive a bobblehead, be sure to visit your local Berkshire Bank branch for a chance to win one!
The scoring began early and often as Dan Gulbransen and Preston Tucker provided three hits apiece. Unfortunately, Staten Island had the last laugh scoring an 8-7 victory in a rain-soaked extra-inning battle.
The ‘Cats are on the road in Brooklyn for the next three days before returning to “The Joe” on Friday to take on the Vermont Lake Monsters for a three-game set. Friday is Home Improvement Night presented by Trustco Bank and will feature post-game fireworks. With only six games remaining in the regular season, don’t miss your chance to see the ‘Cats in action this summer! Tickets are still available for all three games over the weekend.
