The ‘Cats returned to action at “The Joe” on Wednesday night after a six-game road trip and the N.Y.P.L. All-Star break. Five ValleyCats made the trip to Mahoning Valley to participate in the festivities. The game got underway after a one-hour rain delay, with all five players seeing action. Congratulations to Austin “Catfish” Elkins, Tyler Heineman, Brian Holmes, Blake Ford, and Aaron West on the victory and what was surely a memorable experience! Here are some photos from the trip:
The ValleyCats took on the Brooklyn Cyclones as they kicked off their final push to the playoffs. 5,115 fans came out to welcome the team back on Half-Way to Valentines Day! Glennpeter Jewelers was the game sponsor and couples were invited onto the field to renew their vows following the game. Special thanks to our own Chris Dawson who presided over the ceremonies!
Our friend Ed Randall and his Bat for the Cure foundation was also in attendance to raise awareness and education for prostate cancer. Ed joined us on the field for a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
The ‘Cats showed very little rust after their time off, with Juri Perez shutting down the Cyclones over five shutout innings. Preston Tucker stayed hot with two hits and three R.B.I. as he led the offensive attack.
The ValleyCats will take on the Cyclones again on Thursday for game two of the series. Tonight is the team’s annual Hot Rods & Home Runs Night with a special focus on Stopping DWI. Tickets remain available in what could be a playoff preview.
Friday night is the final game against Brooklyn and the first-ever Blizzard in August – Whiteout at “The Joe” promotion. Fans are encouraged to wear white in support of the playoff-bound ‘Cats and there will be a t-shirt giveaway for the first 2,000 fans through the gate! Come on out to the ballpark to join the fun!
