Italian Night at “The Joe!”

Buongiorno! Come Stai? (Translation: Good morning! How are you?)

Italian Night at “The Joe” is always a festive occasion and Friday, August 3rd was no different. Our friends from Home Brewed welcomed fans with some pre-game entertainment outside the main gate. SouthPaw even got into the act as he joined the jam.

CDPHP was on hand with a special pre-game check presentation to Big Brothers Big Sisters!
Guilderland Martial Arts also participated in an action-packed pre-game as they put on a demonstration along the 1st base line.
Troy Mayor, Lou Rosamilia, capped off the busy pre-game ceremonies with a special first pitch, that was caught by none other than . . . Troy Mayor, Lou Rosamilia! Mayor Rosamilia was also victorious in the nightly Cooley Motors Mayors Race.
The ValleyCats kept up their winning ways on the field powered by a long Jesse Wierzbicki home run. Catfish Elkins had a big night (3-4, 2B, 3 R) and Brian Holmes turned in another great start as he struck out 8 Muckdogs in 6 innings of work.
Elsewhere in the ballpark, Elaine Ramundo & Associates of Nationwide provided the first 1,200 fans through the gate with a ValleyCats Legends Card Strip. This strip featured Jose Altuve, J.D. Martinez, Ben Orloff, Hunter Pence, and Ben Zobrist. Fans also had an opportunity to win an autographed replica jersey as part of the giveaway.
Following the game and Ball Launch, we randomly selected one lucky fan to participate in a special Italian Night Baseball Trivia Contest . . . or so Amy thought! After correctly identifying Joe DiMaggio on the video board and struggling through a Tommy Lasorda photo . . . she faced one final question from her boyfriend Greg: Will You Marry Me? She said “yes” and the new fiancees celebrated with a front row seat to this evening’s fireworks display! Congratulations to Amy and Greg and thank you for including the ValleyCats in your special moment!
Mahoning Valley comes to town tomorrow for what promises to be another big game on Saturday. Bring your cable bill to the box office to take part in Time Warner Cable Customer Appreciation Night! Cable bills will be accepted all day with fans receiving 4 tickets and 4 hot dogs/soda vouchers courtesy of TWC. Don’t miss out!
