Social Media Madness invaded “The Joe” on Monday night for the ‘Cats first game against their Stedler rival Connecticut Tigers. Special thanks to all of our Facebook fans for getting us to 6,000 “Likes.” As a result we offered $1 tickets to any of those 6,000-plus fans!
Tonight’s player headshots included their Twitter feed for those who want to keep up with their favorite ValleyCats.
Brian Frugis was selected on Facebook to throw out a ceremonial first pitch and Kyra Thornton won the same prize via Twitter.
Social Media fans also had opportunities to decide some of tonight’s in-game promotions throughout the day. “Call Me Maybe” was selected for the boys’ 5th Inning Drag Dance. Fans also chose to add the “Dance for Your Dinner” promotion for tonight’s game. Our friends on Facebook decided what song the Mayors would dance to as well as the music for the Dunkin’ Dancing promotion. Thank you to all of you for your digital participation.
Prior to the game, NYCapitalSports.net honored the Section II Athletes of the month on the field. It was an impressive group of local scholar athletes. Congratulations to all of the award winners on some great seasons!
The ValleyCats trailed 6-1 before cutting the deficit to two late in the game. Unfortunately they could not get over the hump and Connecticut held on for a 6-4 victory. Andrew Aplin drilled his third homer of the season in the loss. The teams will be back at it bright and early tomorrow morning for an 11:00 AM matinee start. Come on out and join us for lunch at “The Joe.”
