Jimino Address

Prior to the address, ValleyCats Vice President & General Manager Rick Murphy presented a $4,000 donation to inaugurate the Tri-City ValleyCats Scholarships of The Leadership Institute.

The Leadership Institute is an award-winning and innovative skills based professional development program that incorporates a “learning from leaders” approach to successful leadership training. It provides the opportunity to develop an individual’s leadership, entrepreneurial and team building skills while increasing his or her value to their organization and to the greater community. It is the only skills-based program of its kind in the Capital Region.

The donation was made to the “Van Rensselaer Fund,”  a community fund established with The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region in 2010 by the Chamber to support arts, culture and education, and to promote the economic vitality of the region.

The donation will create two scholarships, one available to a 501-c(3) non-profit charitable organization and another available to a small business applicant (25 employees or less).

With more than 150 alumni, The Leadership Institute has become a cornerstone in the community with participants hailing from companies such as CDPHP, KeyBank, Tri City Rentals, Rifenburg Construction, Girls Scouts of Northeastern New York, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Turner Construction, and Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth. The program is sponsored by KeyBank and The Business Review.

Nearly 85% of Leadership Institutes alumni surveyed have been promoted or received additional leadership responsibilities since graduation.
