Monday July 18th was “Joe to the Show Night” at the ballpark and featured a Hunter Pence bobblehead for the first 1,000 fans through the gate. After playing for the ‘Cats in 2004, Pence was named to his 2nd MLB All-Star team earlier this month. Hunter is having a great year as he leads the team big club in home runs and RBIs. He’s also batting a stellar .321 on the season.
“Joe to the Show Night” was presented by the Rensselaer County Department of Health, who helped educate fans on emergency preparedness. Their table provided important information and several lucky fans received emergency preparedness go-kits. These contained important supplies that you may need in case of a disaster. County Executive . . . and ValleyCats bobblehead alum, Kathy Jimino, was on hand for the event and threw out a ceremonial first pitch.
Brian Sinkoff from ESPN Radio, 104.5 the Team, joined us for a live remote broadcast and the Sound-Off Sun Drop-Off contest.

Sinkoff MC’d this exciting on-field promotion that awarded a lucky winner a $1,045 gas card courtesy of Mobil and SunDrop. Two contestants winged baseballs at bottles of SunDrop in a carnival-style game. The winner knocked all four down in a :30 period to claim the prize.
The New York State Firefighters Convention was also in attendance. They provided a color guard for the national anthem along with a pipe and drum escort.
Also participating in the pre-game festivities were eleven student athletes who were honored on the field courtesy of NYCapitalsports.net. Check out their site for the story: NYCapitalSports
