ValleyCats baseball is back!
Despite a rainy start, the ValleyCats celebrated the first championship in their New York-Penn League Championship in front of 5,081 fans.
The festivities kicked off with a trophy presentation by N.Y.P.L. President, Ben Hayes, to ValleyCats President, Bill Gladstone.
The Trophy was the centerpiece on the field while the ‘Cats also unveiled their 2010 championship banner for the first time.
As always, SouthPaw stole the show hitching a limo ride onto the field to deliver the trophy and as has become the Opening Day custom at “The Joe”, the ValleyCats managers/players introduced themselves to the crowd.
The ‘Cats had some chances on offense but were undone by 5 errors as they dropped a 9-3 decision in the Opener.
They look to even the score tomorrow as Championship weekend continues. With a much improved forecast and postgame fireworks, Saturday night should be another big night at “The Joe.”
